Stocking Your Bar With Drinks
Since this site is on the topic of bars, I thought I should have at least one article on what you should be stocking your bar with. One thing is having your home bar built, with it's own bar stools, but what are people going to drink? Do you even know how to prepare a lot of things? Do you have a variety that people are going to appreciate? I'm going to help you out with this little problem. Vodka When it comes to stocking your shelves with vodka, you want to stay as close as you can to Russian. You definitely want to keep it Russian because that's where the best in the world is made. Here are a few brands: Smirnoff, Belvedere, Greygoose, Kettel One, Stolichnaya, etc. Gin Typically you don't have to go to far to get a good English dry gin. It is what you're going to need to be able to make a good martini. You can try getting Bombay Sapphire, Tanqueray, etc. Rum You're going to need both white and dark rum for your home bar. Typically I am a fan of Bacardi because they make the best on the market. You can also get some variations of it like Captain Morgan's, Havana Club, etc. Rye Whiskey It is important to have Rye Whiskey in your bar. This is something that is big in Canada, so you're obviously going to find the major bottles to pick up come from Canadian Club. Tequila This is the fine drink that comes from Mexico. This is the clear yellow drink that makes up important cocktails and shooters. Basically you can get Sauza, Cuervo and Patron, etc. Other Obviously you're going to have to stock up the bar with some other things that are a little less common. I think brandy is a good one to have. You can make Brandy Alexander's, which are actually quite good. You will also want to pick up Coffee Licquer. It is basically a versatile coffee drink that you can mix all sorts of things into. You will also want to get some wines in your bar too. I'm not going to go into detail on exactly what you should get. But fill up the bar with whatever you enjoy drinking and try to find some that your friends like too. |
